Plants are around us in many forms.
And just like us, weather life's storms!
Be creative and work your mind.
You'll be surprised what you might find.
It's time to work, no time to rest.
You're about to begin the Plant WebQuest!

Task

Your job will be to create a PowerPoint presentation identifying a plant's importance to animals and the environment.  You will also describe the parts of a plant and their importance. In addition, you will show the plant life cycle and how seeds are distributed.

Process

Day 1: Getting to Know Plants

1. First Slide: Open the Plant PowerPoint template and then  type in your name on the first slide.

2. Second Slide: Then read this internet site and list the reasons why plants are important

3. Third Slide: read this site and label the plant parts and tell what the part does.

Day 2: Taking Care of Plants

4. Fourth Slide: list the things that plants need to survive. Read this site to help you answer this question.

5.  Fifth Slide:  Minimize your screen and open Kidspiration. Click on "New and Picture." You will show the plant life cycle here. For information on the plant life cycle watch this movie or read this site!

Day 3: Pollination

6. Sixth Slide: List 4 ways that seeds get distributed. Use this site to help you.

7.Seventh Slide: List any new and interesting facts about plants here. Use this website to help you!

Day 4: PowerPoint Fun!

8. All done?  Great now it is time to add some fun things to your PowerPoint!

  • Click on the "first slide".

  • Look at the top of your screen and click on the word, "Slideshow".

  • Click now on the word, "Slide Transition". A menu will pop up on the screen. 

  • Click on the different transitions and watch what happens to your slide! Decide on the speed and if you want a sound! 

  • Then click on your next slide and try a new transition, speed, and sound! Do this for all of your slides!

9. All done with your PowerPoint? Make sure to save it!

Conclusion

Now that you have completed this WebQuest on plants  you should now be more knowledgeable about the parts of plants, and the job of each part. You also have a better understanding of the importance of plants in our world. So go out and plant a tree, or a flower, or a plant!
