Introduction:
Math in the computer lab?  Yup! That's right!  I know that it sounds strange but this section of your Everyday Math book lends itself nicely to introducing you to learning Microsoft Excel.  Have you ever used Excel before?  Ask your parents if they use Excel and they will probably say yes! So, lets move on and learn some math and technology!

Task:
You will use the World Tour section of the Student Reference Book to look up and compare such numerical data as population, area, and climate, etc. for countries and capitals of Europe.

Process:

Day1:(Lesson 5.11): Introduction to the World Tour: Europe!

2. Time for a Math Message: Open your books to pg. 248. Look at the Tallest Mountains. Which mountain is taller? Mt. Everest or K-2? How do you know? Compare these mountains, Who is taller?:

  • K-2 or Kanchenjunga

  • Lhotse I and Makulu I

3. Open Math Books (SRB) to pg. 224.  Look at all of the data, how could the data be shown differently to make it easier to read?

4. Let's use Excel to create a data table and graph!
