Miss Patterson(Gr.3)
By Ms. Linda Muscella
"Miss Patterson had beautiful handwriting
and I tried and wanted really hard for mine to just like hers. I would
practice making swirls on every assignment."
Mrs. Gaskill (Gr.3)
By Ron Maver
"I had Mrs. Gaskill in third grade and
she helped me master my multiplication facts. She made it fun."

Mrs. Oakes
By Linda Muscella "Mrs.
Oakes taught me to be prepared for anything at anytime, she had a habit of
grading our notebooks without any notice. Also, if we got a 100% on a paper
she would put a smiley face in the zero's."

Miss Marple(Gr.2)
By Carla Doorman
"I did hold a grudge
on Miss Marple for awhile. We were in the trailers behind the school, and we
got a new student into class. Her name was also Carla. Miss Marple's
bright idea was to have everyone call me Carla Sue and her Carla. I was
embarrassed at the class knowing and using my middle name! she did however-
give me a certificate, which I still have, for 'not talking too much!' "

Mr. Reed(Gr.3)
By Christine Condi
"I loved all of the teachers that I had at
Allen school! My third grade teacher is still teaching there! Mr. Reed made
learning so much fun! I remember him reading us one of my favorite books,
Tales of Fourth Grade Nothing as we were ending our school year and
preparing for fourth grade. But I also remember being totally embarrassed in
Mr. Reed's class! One time when it snowed, my mom sent me to school in my
snow boots, but I had sneakers to change into once I arrived. As I was
changing my shoes, Mr. Reed, teasingly, announced, "PU! What smells!" Boy,
was that embarrassing!"

Mrs. Olandt(Gr.4)
By Carla Doorman
"I would have to say that Mrs. Olandt was
my favorite teacher. I remember her most being very kind and inspiring. A
recent memory.... I ran into Mrs. Olandt last year when I was in [my
daughter's] class (Mrs. Brown) doing Spotlight on. I had brought a scrapbook
that I had made from my childhood - and showed the kids pictures from when I
was at Allen. Mrs. Brown saw the class picture from fourth grade with Mrs.
Olandt - and commented that she was next door substituting. I went
over with my album, and she stood there rattling off the names of almost
every kid in the picture! She made comments about their habits, etc - and I
was amazed at her memory! Wow!"

Mrs. Cokus (Gr. 5)
By Carla Doorman
"Mrs. Cokus was also memorable - as she
was the only teacher who did a school play. We did Rowdy Kate, and I played
Annabelle. I think I had the shortest line of the whole play - (horrible
stage fright!). She was a cool teacher - and it was fun being on the third
floor. I always thought that was the best classroom in Allen - in the front
corner. [Currently Miss Green's room] We had a view of Allen Ave and the
side parking lot. Also that year, I was part of a group of students who were
pulled from the class to sit in the hallway and do a higher level of reading
work. That was cool - cause we thought we were hot stuff. "
