Miss Barnes (soon to be Mrs. Demski) has been teaching at Allen School since 2003. She loves travel, music, and the Philadelphia Eagles. Her favorite book is Where the Red Fern Grows. Miss Barnes loves teaching Fifth Grade because the students are growing more independent & responsible as they prepare for Middle School. Expect to work hard. If you do, you will be rewarded! In Fifth Grade, you will write creative stories and narratives. You will also work on multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percents, and problem solving skills. Miss Barnes enjoys teaching in Medford because she thinks the students are the best. She says that Allen is a wonderful place for students, families, and teachers. |
| Mr. Reed has been a teacher at Allen since 1974. In the fifth grade there are so many special activities such as Science Fair, D.A.R.E and D.A.R.E's picnic, the Fifth Grade picnic, Fifth Grade dance, and so many more. In fifth grade you will learn so much such as reading from novels, fractions, probability, different kinds of writing, land forms, explorers, and the American Revolution. To prepare his students for Middle School, Mr. Reed stresses organizational skills. Mr. Reed's favorite saying is, " The Choice is yours." He wants to tell all new students that you will need to be organized, pay attention, follow directions, and be able to make "wise" choices. Mr. Reed says that Allen School is a really neat school. "It is a great place to work, learn, and play. Students are really lucky to come to a caring school like Allen." |

Ms. Scanlon has been working at Allen School since
1992. In addition to the numerous Fifth Grade activities throughout the year,
Miss Scanlon's class has a "Significant Snack" once a month and extra
recess on Friday as a reward for good behavior. Some of the great field trips in
Fifth Grade are the trips to Philadelphia and Trenton Barracks. Her favorite
book is The Sign of the Beaver. She loves teaching Math, but she
really likes reading, too. Her most important class rule is,
"Treat others as you would like to be treated." Ms. Scanlon
would like to tell new students that, "We work pretty hard but we also have
fun. Keep organized and you'll have a successful year."
